Brilliant Digital is a business built on solid foundations of experience and expertise. From the early days of Google, our founder, Deb Croucher, has developed a marketing and website toolkit that gets results for our clients.
While Deb Croucher was running a successful veterinary practice in the UK, she noticed a new search engine called Google. She immediately recognised that it was going to be a key force in the future of business and marketing.
Deb built her first website for her own veterinary practice and spent the next seven years learning how to design and code websites and the ins and outs of search engines. Early on she recognised the power of content so invested in learning about writing for a digital audience. This was the foundation of Brilliant Digital and set Deb up to become a true expert in her field.
Deb sold her veterinary practice and moved to Australia with her family. Within 12 months she had taken on her first client, Smart Boating, to build their website and manage ongoing content, marketing and advertising. Smart Boating is still a Brilliant Digital client today.
Brilliant Digital had grown beyond a sole trader setup and Deb now needed to start building a strong and talented team around her. Initially, she onboarded programmers and developers so she could continue to build the content framework and customer model for the business.
A major change to the Google algorithm known as Panda hit – causing mayhem for websites and digital marketers. However, for Brilliant Digital and our clients it was business as usual.
From day one, we have focused on quality content that sits within a solid website framework… and that has seen us sail through algorithm changes such as Panda, Penguin and through changes to social media models.
With the Brilliant Digital client portfolio growing rapidly, Deb hired her first intake of writers into the business. Along the journey, Brilliant Digital has acted as a training ground for talented writers who need upskilling to write for a digital audience.
To manage the growing team, Deb was an early adopter of cloud-based solutions such as Xero, Google Drive and Zoom. We have built a solid foundation for all of our systems and processes that have enabled us to keep up with the rapid pace of our growth.
With a small team of developers, designers and writers, Deb then took Brilliant Digital to the next level by building an operations team. These team members are the communicators in the business, linking between the clients, designers, developers, SEO team and writers, to ensure the success of every project.
With the business reputation growing and the team continually delivering amazing results for our clients, Deb built a leadership team to help her steer the Brilliant Digital ship. Since then, our turnover has increased by 100% year on year, and our client base now extends across Australia and New Zealand.
We have seen our clients achieve amazing things using digital marketing… and after helping two of our clients take their new businesses to new heights, we came full circle by using digital marketing to help them sell their businesses.
The Brilliant Digital business model has always been centred around content. We’ve never blindly followed trends… we know what works and we stay true to our core.
In 2018 we developed our content framework to give our clients a structure around how we developed their messaging, branding and content. Our work isn’t based on guesses and assumptions… it’s based on years of experience in the field and knowing what will deliver the best results.
From a one-woman show to a team of more than 40 talented individuals, Brilliant Digital has gone from strength to strength.
More than one million people each year will land on one of our clients’ websites… and that number only continues to grow. We are almost 20 years into this journey, but really, the Brilliant Digital story is only just beginning.
